Per the MDE's summary: "Similar to other “Grow your Own” (GYO) programs, the SPED pipeline grant is a partnership between educator preparation programs and K-12 schools to recruit and prepare employees to become fully licensed Tier 3 or Tier 4 special education teachers. These programs provide tailored support including stipends, scholarships, unique student teaching or field placement experiences, among other individualized programming to help candidates in pursuing a career in special education.
The SPED Pipeline grant will help fund the employees of grantees who have a commitment to teach students to obtain their Special Education license. The first priority is to fund employees who hold a Minnesota Tier 1 or Tier 2 teaching license. The second priority (if funds are available) is to support any other employee to become a licensed Special Education teacher. "
